Biographies

Julie Brown

An honours graduate of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Julie has worked with a range of theatre companies both performing, directing and producing. Her work has led her across Scotland and further afield to Italy, Holland, Czech Republic and most recently to New York. She has also choregraphed and directed for various Youth Companies and previously worked as the Education & Audience Development Manager at the Arches.
 
For Random Accomplice credits include: Co-Devising and Performance of Nothing To Fear Anymore, Intermission, Something Wicked, Seven Year Itch. Director of Little Johnny's Big Gay Wedding, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Musical and Cinderella.  Producer of The Promise, Smalltown, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Adventure, Marymassacre, Cinderella and Little Johnny’s Big Musical.
 
Julie acted as Project Manager for National Theatre of Scotland’s Hunter: Transform Caithness performance – a community education piece featuring over 170 performers and performed in a variety of locations throughout Thurso.
 
Her performance work outwith Random Accomplice includes The Water Babies, Hansel and Gretel, The Little Mermaid, Spend A Penny, Inferno, Tam O’Shanter (Arches Theatre); An Oak Tree (Tim Crouch); Featherweight, The Cabinet of Doctor Jekyll (Wayward Scot); A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth (Glasgow Rep); Tales of Ordinary Madness (Playwrights Studio Minneapolis script reading). 

 

Johnny McKnight

Johnny trained at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the BA Honours (Contemporary Theatre Practice) course.  His directing credits include:  Love Hurts, Smalltown, Promises Promises (Scotland, West End and Broadway runs), Marymassacre, Something Wicked, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Adventure (Random Accomplice); Aganeza Scrooge (Tron Theatre); Jackie & The Beanstalk, Snow White, Mother Goose, Little Shop of Horrors (macrobert); Bye Bye Birdie (Dance School of Scotland); Burying Your Brother In The Pavement (RSAMD/National Theatre); Hinterland, DNA, MicroShakespeare, Choose Your Channel (RSAMD).  He has also worked as a performer with a multitude of arts organisations including: National Theatre of Scotland, Arches Theatre, Complete Productions, Scottish Opera, 7:84 Theatre Company, macrobert Arts Centre, Glasgow Repertory Company and Visible Fictions. 

Educational work includes National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Opera, 7:84 Theatre Company, National Theatre of Scotland, Arches Theatre Company, Langside College, RCS and Scottish Youth Theatre.

Writing credits include: Jackie & The Beanstalk, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mother Goose, Cinderella (macrobert); Love Hurts, Smalltown - Ardrossan, Little Johnny's Big Gay Wedding, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Musical, 7-Year Itch, Marymassacre, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Adventure, Something Wicked (Random Accomplice); First Class – Passport to Paris (Scottish Opera).  Johnny is currently working on several new productions for 2012: Cinderella (Royal Lyceum), Aganeza Scrooge (Tron Theatre), Last One Out (Scottish Opera), Beloved (BBC Radio Scotland), The Incredible Adventures of See Thru Sam (Random Accomplice) and Room 7 (Traverse).
